A Lotta Day Again
ESS orientation for the Extended School Year program was the other day. I will have five students ages seven and eight. There will be two with autism and all either semi- or totally non-verbal. I called all the parents tonight and it looks like all five will be there Monday morning.
Fortunately I was able to go to the school and pick a classroom Thursday so I could start arranging and decorating for Monday. Then I ran by Greenville and picked up my poster box. I have made some posters to use for summer classes. I made a special calendar poster. I like to help the children keep track of the days of the week. With our children with multi-disabilities it is important for them to know what to expect from day to day as well as learning the days of the week and how to spell them.
My mother and I went to the vacation Bible school meeting. We are in charge of crafts but for the meeting we had to prepare a color coded sign and name tag system for getting the children on and off the buses from the different neighborhoods the church will be serving this summer. We spent the day getting the name tags made Thursday evening. There will be three neighborhoods where the church buses will pick up children. Each area will have its own color and a matching sign will be in the windows of the bus. At the end of the day the children will look for the colored tag in the buses to get on the right one for their neighborhood. We laminated over 200 name tags and bus signs after printing them out using my sister's computer.
Meanwhile she had my nephew's stay over for a few days and my youngest sister, their mother had forgotten little league practice gear for the youngest--the same little fellow who used to say "lotta day" when he was two years old. We drove up to her apratment and back and did some last-minute shopping to make sure we had all we needed for the vacation bible school project. We came up with some craft ideas but we still need to finalize some projects for some of the age groups. Then we will go shopping for some of the materials and supplies we'll need for the crafts projects.
Before I knew it the day was long spent and I was too. So my mother promised to come over to help me today.
Hunnee coached pitching for grandson's little league team today. By the time Hunnee came home he couldn't believe it was the same house! We were all atarving so he took us out for lunch at a Chinese buffet in town. N ot one of us is used to eating such a large meal in the middle of the day so we were quite worthless int he late afternoon. My mother went home to nap and I stepped into the shower, washed my hair and climbed into bed.
When I awoke this evening I checked the folders for my summer children and called each parent. That's when I noticed that the man who was supposed to call abot checking out my roof damage had called several times. I will have to get in touch as soon as possible Monday.
I was able to talk to each parent of summer kids, which is very unusual. Usually soemone is not home.Anyway, it looks like all of them will be there and not one is declining summer school. I worked on my letters and name writing cards this evening and my daughter printed them out for me. Tomorrow after church I will laminate them and any other signs I will need for Monday.

Welcome New Friends!
I'm learning more about our friends who speak Portuguese and for that I am grateful. I love seeing things through the eyes of all of you from different parts of this country and over the world. God made us basically the same and I enjoy learning of different cultures.
God bless you all. Stay blessed all of you!
Rap Ain't Nothin' New
Now I'm gonna tell you what I'm to do
If you think that rap is so brand new.
You hear P-Diddy and Li'l Romeo
But many came first, a long time ago.
African-Americans traditionally
Have been poetic and very free
And artistic with words long before
Rap music came knockin' on anybody's door.
"Playin' the dozens" came from when
Young men had to be strong and not give in.
So they'd have a friendly banter with insulting chat
And the stronger one knew where it was at.
No one would get angry or fight his brother,
Even if the "signifier" spoke of his mother;
'Cause being strong to each in the end
Meant the two walk along home as friends.
About two-hundred years before Bow Wow,
Philis Wheatley was taken from Senegal.
She lived in the seventeen-zero-zeros
And wrote beautiful poetry we still read now.
"Li'l brown baby wit' spahklin' eyes..."
Came from a man who was small and wise.
Paul Lawrence Dunbar was his name
And Black dialect was his claim to fame.
Although he wanted to write in style so plain
The "establishment" drove him rather insane.
So his poems inclided "dem", "dat" and "dose."
Doe we's don't all talk like dat, ya know!
Now Marcus Garvey wanted a special song
"Cause America was treatin' Black folk wrong.
So he organized a trip back home
To the Mother Land, where he said we belonged.
Thus he had a flag made--red, black and green
And a whole lotta folks thought he was mean.
For a new Black country, he wanted a theme'
So James Weldon Johnson was brought on the scene
To write a song for the new nation to sing
With beautiful words that sang what they mean.
Beautiful words Mr. johnson did write.
His brother put music that fit just right!
Page four-fifty-seven (Baptist Hymnal) you should know
Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing it just so.
Later, my children, there was Langston Hughes
Who wrote about dreams as well as the blues.
Claude McKay wrote "If we must die..."
Both of these men were filled with much pride.
Gwen Brooks, Sonya Sanchez and Nikki Giovanni
Let ev'ryone know what a woman can be.
Now I hope you've learned and I hope youi'll read
And expand your mind 'cause--yes, indeed--
Black Americans have always been on time
With arts and words and beats and rhymes.
Now I've only mentioned a few.
Crack open a book and learn of them, too.
Excuse my English--it's just for fun--
But rap ain't nothin' that ain't already been done.
The beat ain't nothin' to bring you down
It's just the words that can make me frown
'Cause young'uns you gotta be on guard
If the words don't glorify the Lord.

NASA and THE BIBLE
Thought this was pretty amazing and interesting!
For all the scientists out there, and for all the students who have a hard time convincing these people regarding the truth of the Bible, here's something that shows God's awesome creation, and that He is still in control.
Did you know that the space program is busy proving that what has been called 'myth' in the Bible is true?
Mr.Harold Hill, President of the Curtis Engine Company in Baltimore, Maryland, and a consultant in the space program, relates the following development.
I think one of the most amazing things that God has done for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists at Green Belt, Maryland .
They were checking out where the positions of the sun, moon, and planets would be 100 years and 1,000 years from now. We have to know this so we won't send up a satellite and have it bump into something later on in its orbits.
We have to lay out the orbits in terms of the life of the satellite and where the planets will be so the whole thing will not bog down..
They ran the computer measurement back and forth over the centuries, and it came to a halt. The computer stopped and put up a red signal, which meant that there was something wrong with either the information fed into it or with the results as compared to the standards.
They called in the service department to check it out, and they said, 'What's wrong?' Well, they found there is a day missing in space in elapsed time.
They scratched their heads and tore their hair out. There was no answer.
Finally a Christian man on the team said, 'You know, one time I was in Sunday School, and they talked about the sun standing still.' While they didn't believe him, they didn't have an answer either, so they said, 'Show us, '
He got a Bible and went to the book of Joshua where they found a pretty ridiculous statement for any one with 'common sense.'
There they found the Lord saying to Joshua,
'Fear them not, I have delivered them into thy hand; there shall not a man of them stand before Thee.'
Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy! And if darkness fell, they would overpower them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still! That's right... 'The sun stood still and the moon stayed and lasted not to go down about a whole day!'
(Joshua 10:12-13)
The astronauts and scientists said, There is the missing day! They checked the computers going back into the time it was written and found it was close but not close enough. The elapsed time that was missing back in Joshua's day was 23 hours and 20 minutes. not a whole day.
They read the Bible, and there it was about [approximately] a day. These little words in the Bible are important, but they were still in trouble because if you cannot account for 40 minutes, you'll still be in trouble 1000 years from now.
Forty minutes had to be found because it can be multiplied many times over in orbits. As the Christian employee thought about it, he remembered somewhere in the Bible where it said the sun went BACKWARDS.
The scientists told him he was out of his mind, but they got out the Book and read these words in 2 Kings that told of the following story: Hezekiah, on his death bed, was visited by the prophet Isaiah who told him that he was not going to die. Hezekiah asked for a sign as proof. Isaiah said 'Do you want the sun to go ahead 10 degrees?'
Hezekiah said, 'It is nothing for the sun to go ahead 10 degrees, but let the shadow return backward 10 degrees.' Isaiah spoke to the Lord, and the Lord brought the shadow ten degrees BACKWARD! Ten degrees is exactly 40 minutes!'
Twenty-three hours and 20 minutes in Joshua, plus 40 minutes in Second Kings make the missing day in the universe! Isn't it amazing?
References: Joshua 10:8 and 12,13 and 2 Kings 20:9-11.
Share this with as many people who you believe would think this is equally as cool.
If God could do this then; how much more can he do for us today. If we only believe in his word.
Never be afraid to try something new.
All I have and all that I am is by the Grace of God!

I found a show I use to watch all the time: Night Gallery. It was rather like Twilight Zone which makes sense because it was a Rod Serling show as well.

His Eye is on the Sparrow
I think I wrote earlier of one of my favorite Scriptures
having to do with "What, Me Worry?"
Well, the song I have playing here on this blog until
I get bored and am ready for another song is based
on just that Scripture.
An elderly deacon at my church used to be with
us on Wednesday night prayer meeting when we
would gather at prayer time in the pews near the
front of the church. This was his favorite song each
time he made a testimony. Later we found
he was very sick but he never complained. He
always said he was blessed and talked
about the ways he was so blessed. he was also
a blessing to all of us, so much so
that before we knew it his home going
celebration was about three hours long. So
many people had wonderful, happy stories to
tell about him. No one wanted to go
home!
At any rate, I have come to like this song also
as the words are awesome and they
have come to mean a lot to me. I share the
words here to the song that is playing:
1. Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely
and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant friend is he:
His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know he watches me.
Refrain:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
for his eye is on the sparrow,
and I know he watches me.
2. "Let not your heart be troubled,"
his tender word I hear,
and resting on his goodness,
I lose my doubts and fears;
though by the path he leadeth
but one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know he watches me.
(Refrain)
3. Whenever I am tempted,
whenever clouds arise,
when song gives place to sighing,
when hope within me dies;
I draw the closer to him,
from care he sets me free:
His eye is on the sparrow,
and I know he watches me.
(Refrain)

Another Day and Night in the Life of Mr. Bob Buttons
This story was dictated to me by Mr. Bob Buttons our cat. He has been with us since February and has adjusted to our house and the family very well. When I'm tired from work, his dictation comes in loud and clear.
I am liking this house. No one yells at me or kicks me and they have plenty of food. The man's voice sometimes scares me and causes me to have flashbacks from the house I grew up in. But I like him because he will let me outside in the mornings and he will stay out on the patio with me while I explore the backyard. Sometimes he's gone for a few days at a time. He calls me Bob.
I like the girl best. She will brush me every day and let me sit by her. I knew her from the "in between" house. She used to come there sometimes. That's where I stayed after my family left me and those strange people came and took everything out of the house and me too! The in between people would come to the garage and feed me. Then they took me to their house. I met a big mama cat who used to groom me and tell me to relax. And there was the crazy cat who would stare at me and tell me not to get in her space. And I met the girl that I have claimed as mine. Now I live where she lives and I like that!
At night I keep an eye on them. I will go to the girl's room and sit on the edge of her bed and watch her sleep. I have to make sure she's alright. I learned a long time ago that people like to sleep when the sun goes down.I'll snooze there at the foot of her bed. Then I have to go to the mom and dad's room and do the same.I have to finish off the night in Mom's room because there is this little music box that starts singing each morning about the same time. Sometimes it doesn't sing so I have to wake Mom. Sometimes when it does sing, Mom doesn't wake up right away, so I have to wake her. I wake her with my singing--and I am really good! She gets breakfast!
This morning I woke Mom as usual. I tried to lead her to the back room where they keep cans of the good stuff but she gave me soft stuff from a little bag. It's still better than that stuff from my old home. I don't complain. My girl will get up and give me dessert later.
Dad was not home so I had to get Mom to let me out this morning. Since Dad's not home I don't go far out into the back yard. Then it's time to get my girl up. I try staring at he and communicating by mental telepathy to get her to wake up. That doesn't always work so when it doesn't I sing! I'm good at it! Then it's dessert time.
I know I'm an old dude but I like my purple mouse. They gave me a bunch of mousies. All of them smell so good they make me want to toss them in the air! But purple mousie is the best. Sometimes I lick it until I go to sleep on my favorite rug. I save all my mousies under the sofa so I'll know where they are when I get ready to play with them again.
It's about that time when my people will start hurrying around the house. I know they are going to leave the house and leave me by myself. I used to cry about that. Dad used to stay with me and I'd cry for Mom and my girl because I didn't know him so well. I used to be afraid of his man voice because it reminded me of the one in my first house. Dad would talk to me in a softer voice as if he understood so I soon became comfortable around him.
Now I know they always come back home--not like those people in my first home. Those people never came back. First my girl comes home and I greet her at the door. She gets me something to eat and we just hang out together. She gets out her papers and I sit on them to keep them warm for her. Then she gets on the computer and I sit on the chair with he or next to her keyboard, because that's where her hands are. She will rub my head and brush me all over. Then she gives me dessert and she gets in her bed.
And I'm on night watch again until the next morning when I and the music box wake Mom for breakfast.
Yeah, I like this house!
