I told you all of the transcription service lessons provided by the NFB for learning UEB braille. I have been taking them and near the end when I had to be hospitalized. However, I got back to them and received an email from my teacher- which may be a job opportunity for someone who is interested and certified in UEB transcription. It may be that only new contracts with former employees will be made, but who knows; it's worth the try.
" I have received your exercise but wasn't able to evaluate it before the end of my contract with NFB. Below is an explanation of the current situation of the Braille Transcribing Program provided by Jennifer Dunnam the Manager of Braille Programs.
The Braille Certification Training Program is operated under a contract with the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS).
Due to a gap between the expiration of the current contract (July 15, 2017) and the establishment of a new one, operation of this program is
temporarily on hold until a new contract is in place. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you. The NFB is actively bidding on the new contract.
You will be notified as soon as more information is available. If you have questions, please contact Tamara Rorie, Braille Development Officer at NLS, at
tror@loc.gov mailto:tror@loc.gov; or (202) 707-3001."
